Boosting wordpress for realtors

If you have not noticed, the era of social networking and social media has hit everywhere in such a way that almost everyone in the street is still connected even though he or she is miles away from there internet connection. You have surly see is some blogs and sites… “Joe : drinking coffee at starbucks”, and wonder why would you want to know what joe is doing right now … ? Well that is one usage of of the little bird named twitter.

In this short article I will show you how this famous little blue bird called twitter can become a little more helpful than normal. We will see how we can get this cute little blue bird to become part of your office team, without a payroll.

If you are not acquainted with twitter you should take a quick peek at the twitter about page, and sign up.

Once you have signed up to Twitter I recommend that you make sure that you have filled in the settings > account details and added your link to your website or blog. You should also upload a good picture of yourself or a company logo under settings > picture. I certainly recommend being as personal as possible on twitter.

Here are some of my recommendations for real estate twittering :

Keeping your office updated

You may make your twitter private to allow only authorized persons to view your twitter feed, and use twitter for office updates only to agents in the office. Just select under settings > account > protect my updates. Your twitter followers may choose to receive twitter updates by email , RSS, mobile or on the web or via a desktop application.

Following the followers

A real estate agent named Daniel Rothamel (@RealEstateZebra) from Palmyra, Va has made a practice of following twitter feeds from over 1500+ people, including other agents and his neighbors in the search for people that twttered about moving or looking for real estate in his area.

New property notification

You can notify your twitter followers about new exiting properties or offers either manually or automatically from your blog or RSS property feed.

I will show how we can use Twitter to spread the word on new properties that your are marketing, notifications on events, etc.

To get your little birdy to twitter real estate for you, all you need to do is sign up at twitterfeed and link get your blog RSS feed syndicated to Twitter automatically.

If you would like a little more control over feedding twitter your content you may use a wordpress plugin to do the work for you such as twitterupdater.

And most important…

Success on twitter will come from being interesting, engaging and mostly helpful.  Building your reputation and creating relationships with other users will path your way to social success.

Ping.fm allows you to post your thoughts to over 30+ social networks including facebook, twitter, tumblr and many more.

I have just started using a really cool service for adding updates on wpReality directly to Twitter from a tool I use daily – Google Talk.

Once you setup your ping.fm account, all you have to do is add pingdotfm@gmail.com to your friends list , send your verify-xxx number via Google Talk and start sending updates directly to twitter. Be careful this is addictive having such power at the end of your fingertips, without even opening a browser.

You may also use the service from a large range of mobile devices and other software such as Yahoo Talk, Facebook, AOL Messenger, Windows Messenger.

You don’t have to worry about having to either going to every social website to make a post telling followers that you have a new post or even going to Ping.Fm, it automatically pings the Ping.Fm website and then posts to all the services that you have selected in Ping.Fm.

Note : Don’t try schedule a post, since the plugin will not ping a scheduled post.
